<title>Apple and Aperture Going into Stock</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p>Will <a href="http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/70707/wo/Lx1m1uoOADne2dihDjq1tL9mYV3/0.SLID?mco=2D855362&nplm=MA154Z%2FA">Apple use Aperture</a> to go into the stock photo business?</p>

<p>Once Aperture is installed in a critical mass of desktops, they could buy a stock agency and become the premier vendor for commercial still and video stock.</p>

<p>It follows their itunes model, only with this they need to buy rather than build a stock business.</p>

<p>I predict that they will buy Getty, and go head to head with Corbis and Microsoft.</p>

<p>It will be interesting to see how this pans out.</p>]]></description>

<title>Disposable Camera Production</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p>Kodak has built the world&#146;s largest <a href="http://english.eastday.com/epublish/gb/paper1/1221/class000100001/hwz188036.htm">disposable camera production</a> facility in Xiamen China.</p>

<p>They are also aware of the environmental impact of disposable cameras and have taken steps to address the problem.</p>

<p><i>In addition, Kodak has been setting up a recycling network across the world to make use of the disposed cameras. So far, some 80 to 85 percent of disposable cameras have been recycled.</i></p>]]></description>

<title>Pixel Mania May Be Over</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p>This seems to be the year when sales of digital cameras will surpass film cameras.  Manufacturers no longer need to compete on <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/3571689.stm">pixel number and image quality</a>.  They are now competing on design features.</p>

<p><i>"End users don't need more than four or five megapixel cameras," said Harold Jutten of Pentax.</p>

<title>Digital Photography for Coins</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p>Here is a good site for information on digital photography for coins.</p>

<p><i>For coin photography I recommend any brand (my current camera is a Contax) of 35mm single lens reflex with a built in light meter that reads through the lens (preferably favoring the center of the image or 'center weighted'). The lens must be interchangeable to allow introduction of some sort of spacing device behind the lens to allow the rig to focus close enough to fill the frame with the smallest coin in your collection.</i></p>

<title>Digital Camera Reviews</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p>Have you decided to add a a digital camera to your bag of tools?</p>

<p>You can test the waters with a low cost consumer level camera.  Or, start with a mid-priced "prosumer" camera.  These mid-priced cameras off very high quality at a reasonable price.</p>

<p>But, if you already use a film based SLR, you should probably consider adding a digital body.  You'll pay a little more, but in return get much higher quality images.  You'll also be able to use the lenses that you already have.</p>

<p>DPReview.com is a great place for <a href="http://www.dpreview.com">digital camera reviews</a>.  They offer digital camera comparisons as well as digital camera ratings.  Their side by side digital camera comparison is a very handy tool for evaluating different digital cameras.</p>]]></description>

<title>Black White Photography Tips</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p>My son Evan is currently taking a photography course at his middle school.  He&#146;s learning to do darkroom work using black and white film.</p>

<p>In the near future, will beginning photography classes continue to teach basic darkroom work?  Interesting question.  Is it better now to start right out with digital capture?  Has Photoshop replaced the black and white darkroom as the place where we first learn the craft of photography?</p>

<p>Some people without digital experience will say that black and white film capture will continue to be important.  I don&#146;t think they realize the added control you have with a digitally captured RBG image.  All of the possible filter choices, for example a yellow filter to bring out clouds against a blue sky, can now be applied after you&#146;ve taken the picture.</p>

<title>Adobe Photoshop Magazine</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p>Adobe Photoshop is really several tools rolled into one.  It is a rare person who is a master of all of them.  I know that I'm not one.</p>

<p>It's best to start focusing in on one aspect of Photoshop.  Getting really good at using a small handful of Photoshop tools is a wonderful thing.  Sometimes, though, I'll read an article that brings to light a part of Photoshop I hadn&#146;t considered before.  This helps make all my work better.</p>

<p>The NAPP, National Association of Photoshop Professionals, is a good resource for all things Photoshop.  Their <a href="http://www.photoshopuser.com/tableofcontents.html">Adobe Photoshop magazine</a>, <i>photoshop user</i>,  covers the full breadth of possibilities in Photoshop. The NAPP charges  a yearly membership fee.</p>]]></description>
