Pixel Mania May Be Over

This seems to be the year when sales of digital cameras will surpass film cameras. Manufacturers no longer need to compete on pixel number and image quality. They are now competing on design features.

"End users don't need more than four or five megapixel cameras," said Harold Jutten of Pentax.

"They see that that is enough for very good, high-resolution pictures. I think pixel-mania has stopped."
